Global day of awarennes on accessibility was celebrated in Tuzla by panel on May 16th 2024 within the project „The Internet as a tool for empowerment of voices of persons with disability“ which Internet Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina implements with help of Internet Foundation in partnership with the Association of visually impaired citizens of Tuzla. Along with blind persons, their parents and Internet Society activists, professors from the Faculty for electrical engineering and the Faculty for education and rehabilitation took part. Ten blind persons from Bosnia and Herzegovina attended individual training how to create video contents and put it on Internet. Some of them see themselves as youtubers in the future. One of the trainers, Hamdo Kentra shared experience of work with training participants. Robert Kajusic From Kiseljak, Tarik Hadzirovic from Sarajevo, Diana Hadzic from Cazin, Adriana Salkanovic from Orasje and Suncica Spasojevic from Derventa pointed out how much training means for them. The part of recorded material which created as result of training was presented.
PHD Vesna Bratovcic, vice-chancellor for international cooperation at Tuzla University presented the project which University start with the aim of support for youth with disability in education by increasing of digital accessibility.
PHD Senad Mehmedinovic, professor on the Faculty for education and rehabilitation in Tuzla focused on importance of accessibility in education, employment and daily life.
PHD Aljo Mujcic, professor on the Faculty for electrical engineering talked about challenge of society in using technology. In his opinion the development of artificial inteligence could be helpful for the blind.
Participants consider that equal rights for all on accessibility of technology, training, products and services are very important. Academic community could contribute by advancement of cooperation with non-governmental organizations. Internet Society's actiists expressed their readiness to contribute in advancement accessibility for all citizens on equal bases.
